The Aquatic & Fitness Center in North Myrtle Beach marks a change in my life because it represented a new change in my routine. Signing up for a membership was the first thing I had done outside the realm of school and my job at the time. This location shows a change in routine as this was my first selfless act I devoted myself to. From freshman to senior year in high school, my mindset was set on being academically successful all while raising my siblings and being a strong figure for them. With all my determination being set on school and my siblings, I forgot to expend some of that effort into acts that would put me in a better place. Mapping this gym showed how such a small place was able to change the trajectory of my life as I learned to live for myself. Being surrounded by such an encouraging environment elevated my mental and physical health in ways my younger self had no idea was possible. I finally discovered the act of true self-care all while continuing to live for my siblings and academic career.
