Beyond the Looking Glass: Extra Ordinary Works of Fairy Tale & Fantasy

Published in 1973 by StoneHill Publishing company in New York. This is a reprint of Christina Rosetti’s work and Laurence Housmans Illustrations of Goblin market in 1893 which was originally published by Macillan & co london. Laurence Housman was born in 1865 and died in 1950 both in the United Kingdom, he is known for being a playwright and a writer along with an illustrator. This text is the most modern rendition of Laurence Housmans illustrations. Though Housmans Illustrations were not meant for children as they express themes of sexuality , children were often the audience that read the text and the text was featured in renditions of children literature. It is a children text best to be understood by adults according to Jonathan Cott. This texts copies the full version of Christina Rossetti’s poem “Goblin Market” as part of a collection of victorian fairy tales and fantasies. The other authors and editors associated with this version are Jonathan Cott, born 1942 on December 24th and is still alive today,  who was the editor and introduced the text and also Leslie Fielder, born in New Jersey on March 8th, 1917 and died in Buffalo on January 29th , 2003, who wrote a special introductory essay. There are 12 illustrations depicted in the text from the original 1893 print of Laurence Housmans version of “Goblin Market” Illustrations.
