Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most famous dark romanticism writers refrenced dreams throughout his works. One in particular was "The Raven," which said "Deep into that darkness peering, long, stood there wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to." This painting describes how one can dream but all around there are still nightmares.
