The place: Glastonbury, CT, marks a change in my life because when I was tweleve I moved there from Austin, Texas. I never heard anything about New England before and assumed it was honestly in England. I started a new school here in January and also saw snow in a residential place for the first time, instead of on vacation. If someone else were researching this place they'd find it through one of the best school districts in Connecticut. https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/whats-the-best-school-district-in-connecticut/. This website speaks to me because there was always a sense of competition in my town. This ranking just shows how competitive education, sports, even whose family has the most money, whose parents donate to the most things was reflected in my town. In New England we get the pleasure of experiencing all four seasons, as well as being so close to Boston and New York, https://www.glastonburyct.gov/departments/department-directory-i-z/parks-and-recreation/riverfront-park-boathouse (this shows picturesque views I saw often in my town.) so weekend trips often consisted there. There will be Dunkin Donuts throughout my town shown on maps as well as beautiful scenery. I often tell people I grew up in a Hallmark movie, because that's how it feels. This town for me signifies growing up since having your whole life changed in the middle of your sixth grade year really causes you to learn adaptation. Mapping this place to me reveals how this small ordinary place carries a lot of significance. I already knew from prior knowledge from my APUSH teacher that we have an abonadend Nike missile site from 1956-1963. It was designated to protect us from attacks from the Russians during the Cold War. I love my town in New England because it's what made me fall in love with New England.
