"It is sweet and proper to die for one's country"

This picture shows soldiers in WWI smiling and looking happy. I chose this picture to be the first in my gallery because in Wilfred Owen poem "Dulce Et Decorum Est" he explains how outsiders would picture the war. This picture goes with the saying "Dulce Et Decorum Est" which means it is sweet and proper to die for one's country, or that is what they want people to think. They had moments where they were happy but many doesn't know that the bad things outweigh the happy moments in war. People only imagine and look at the war as a nicely, easy fought battle and praise war vets because they put their life on the line, as if they were suppose to.
