J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was published on July 8th, 1999. It is the third book in her Harry Potter series, and it follows the plot of the first and second book. This book begins right before Harry's thirteenth birthday. It is gifted an Owl by own of his friends at school and over the summer he was sent gifts and letters from Hermione and Ron. It is now Harry's third year at Hogwarts and we are met with his friends from the prior books: Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger, and so much more. In this novel Harry is now investigating Sirius Black. Sirius Black is an escaped prisoner from the well-known wizard prison, Azkaban. Black is allegedly one of Lord Voldemort's former allies. There are dementors which I do not believe we have seen prior to this book, they have the appearance of a ghost but seemingly black in hue instead of white (“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban | Harry Potter Wiki | Fandom.”). This book goes through Harry's life at Hogwards, the enemies he has happened to make, the sports he plays: quidditch, the Knight bus concept, and the friends that he meets. This book is very important since it follows the plot of the first two. It is recognized as famous like the others because it is apart of the most popular children's series.
