Margaret Harkness Publishes A CITY GIRL: A REALISTIC STORY

In 1887, Margaret Harkness, under the pen name John Law, published a novel called, A City Girl: A Realistic Story. It told the story of a bright-eyed young woman named Nelly who endured the hardships of poverty-stricken East End London.
