My item shows how during my time that men were always surrounded by women because we were so interested in giving into the fruit that was the temptation that the goblins wanted us to give into. Marital sex was seen as a shameful necessity to married life. Apart from conceiving, husbands and their wives even slept in separate bedrooms, to prevent the temptation of getting physically intimate. I chose this picture because it shows the attention that men had over women during this time because of the power they had for the women's attention and how easily they could give into temptation. They also were able to get the women to give into sexual temptation because of how they had money and power. My gender identity was always set a certain way because of women’s roles during the Victorian Era, but women started to have an identity crisis because they wanted to have bigger roles, like working. Also, we do not like how men had all of the power and we wanted to do more than just work at home and take care of the kids. In the Victorian Era, women were so interested in men and what they represented in society because of the power they. The picture shows how all the women directed their attention to the man. I wanted to show how I did not want to give into the goblins because of what they presented and the picture shows how the women can be mesmerized by men, the power and temptation they hold.
Editorial commentary: Lizzie's third item of the picture of all of the women during the Victorian era surrounding the man. This shows the way women in this time period were always so seduced by men and were so tricked into their ways. Just like Lizzie was bound by them, being tempted to give into their sexual temptation and infatuation with guys who weren't their husband or not waiting until marriage to give into the sexual temptation. Lizzie had a lot of temptations by the goblins. Lizzie relates to this picture because the goblins represent the man in this picture because they both get the girls to want to give into their sexual temptation and make them want to throw their life away for it. Lizzie is still discovering their sexuality but they want to explore it in the wrong way by giving into the goblins or like the picture is showing giving all the attention to the man and not having your own identity. Lizzie’s gender and sexuality is pushed because of how the goblins push her to want to give up her sexual temptation to them and seuxlaity and the picture connects how women have to learn to not give into sexuality and save it for when you are married and not to give into pressure of guys because of all the intention they want from women to beg for their attention. Lizzie is finding her gender as a woman that they will be tempted but to always stay away and try not to give in.
