Verrocchio's David

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

Upon seeing DaVinci's angel in their painting "Baptism of Christ", Verrocchio vowed to never paint again. As an artisit Verrocchio began to focus on sculpting and drawing due to the shame of his pupil being a better painter than him. This time period after the "Baptism of Christ" results in some of Verrocchio's most famous pieces such as the statue of David that is pictured. This is a bronze statue that was comissioned by the Medici Family and it has been said the statue is modeled after Leonardo DaVinci.
