The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community.  A UK wide referendum released in June 2016 had 52% of people vote in favor of leaving the EU, and the UK officially withdrew in Janurary 2020.  Originally, the withdrawal was scheduled for March 2019 but was delayed due to a deadlock in Parliament.  One of the reasons for people in the UK wanting to leave the EU was due to economic concerns.  At the time of the referendum Europe's economic growth had started to stagnate, and many felt that the EU had done little to alleviate concerns.  People also felt that remaining in the EU would cause a loss of sovereingty for the UK.
