Jane Eyre Art

This image depicts the first meeting between Jane and Mr. Rochester. The painting was done in 2018 by Charles Edmund Brock. 

This image is from a publication of the novel from 1943; the edition features illustrations from Fritz Eichenberg. Eichenberg has created many images for many novels including pieces by Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe. This image depicts Jane being talked to  by Mr. Brocklehurst when he first comes to meet Jane at Mrs. Reed's house. 

This image is from Ethel Gabain's illuatrated version of Jane Eyre released in 1923. The image depicts Jane checking in on Helen Burns while at Lowood. This is right before Helen's character dies, leaving Jane alone at Lowood. 

This image depicts the scene between Jane and Rochester in which they sit outside together and have a very long conversation. This is arguably one of the more important discussions and "date" like activities they do together in the novel. The image was created by Edmund Garrett who cproduced illustrations for a 1897 edition of Jane Eyre.

This is another illustrated publication of Jane Eyre and this is the scene depicting when Jane meets Rochester. The image was created by John H. Bacon in the 1900 publication of the novel.

This image is from another illustrated publication of Jane Eyre. This image depicts one of Jane's more traumatizing scenes in which she is locked in the redroom in Mrs. Reed's home. Jane, at this point, essentially has a panic attack in the room. This illustrated publication was released in 1932.

This illustrated version is one of the only ones completed by a woman. This version uses bright colors to represent the novel. In this section, Jane is beginning to come to terms with the way she looks and who she is. She says she no longer feels plain. These illustrations were done by Kathy Mitchell in 1992.
