In this painting by Thomas P. Hall, one can view many of the different classes of Victorian society. All are enjoying an artwork that presumably shows a natural scene; the viewer is looking out at the street from inside an art dealer's shop.. Note that there is both a well-dressed gentleman and lady, as well as a street urchin with a broom. The child would possibly be a crossing sweeper, a child who would sweep the muck--horse dung, trash, mud--out of the street for people who wished to cross without getting dirty.
