One thing that stood out to me the most throughout each of the class presentations was what everyone suggested that their analyses bring to the table, because they were all so dfferent from one another when considering the projects themselves and the contexts for interpretation. I know that in the class prior a few of my fellow students (and myself)were a bit confused with how to navigate the question of what our research brings to the table, but as I listened to all of the presentations I found that this had become much more clear.

I found the discussions this week some of the most interesting of the course thusfar, especially in the case of discussing Laurence Housman's The House of Joy. What made this novel and this discussion stand out to me was that through viewing and analyzing the different images that are included in the book for various fairytales, it was easy to recognize imagery that had the same thematic implications throughout the entire book.

Specifically in "The Man With the Twisted Lip," the contrast between a text and its imge become obvious, as do the fin-de-siecle ideologies that both represent. In the image of the man that is described as being a "professional begger," ideologies surrounding homelessness and disability are represented, refecting common stereotypes around both that were common in society at the time of illustrtion and publication.

The scene of The Lady of Shallot that intrigued me the most is when she first begins looking at Sir Lancelot through the mirror, and the idea of her desiring him in a possibly romantic and/or sexual way is introduced. I found this scene most intriguing because of the nature of how it is written tied into her character - The Lady of Shallot is trapped, and as such she is presented to the readers as a character that is unable to act upon her desires since she cannot leave the tower.

This week my group was asked to create the time line entry for Clemence Houseman's The Were-Wolf. At first I was a bit intimidated by this task, considering that I was not (and still am not) fully comfortable with using the COVE tools to post work and exhibits online. It really helped working in a smaller group, as i found that the three of us were able to clairfy any questions for one another and gage how to go about creating the timeline post.
