COVE has received a $350,000 grant from the Collections and Reference Resources grant scheme of the National Endowment for the Humanitieis. The grant will be dedicated to preserving and expanding COVE's content database.

June 2021
COVE has received a $27,500 Field Development grant from Research Society for Victorian Periodicals and a $15,000 grant from University of Nebraska's Arts and Humanities Research Enhancement Program for the project, "Recovering BIPOC Voices from the Victorian Periodical Press." An additional $50,000 of funding from Purdue's School of Interdisciplinary Studies has been dedicated to the coding of texts by and about people of color, to be undertaken by two full-year research assistants from Purdue's African American Studies program (2021/22 and 2022/23): Malik Raymond and Kaylah Morgan.

COVE was officially rebranded as Central Organization for Virtual Education, reflecting the fact that tools and content at COVE are not limited to one period. In 2021, COVE will work with the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism to create sections of COVE for diverse field groups.

16 January 2019
COVE has been awarded two grants to support the creation of The Pre-Raphaelites Online, one from Purdue, one from the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. Although the site will exist separately from COVE, PRO will share tools and data elements with COVE. The initiative brings together Pre-Raphaelite scholars (Jerome McGann, Timothy Barringer, Elizabeth Prettejohn) and the most important collections of Pre-Raphaelite art work (the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Watts Gallery, the Delaware Art Museum, and the Yale Center for British Art). Birmingham is PI on the project, with co-investigators from Birkbeck, U of Exeter and Purdue.
