COVE was officially rebranded as Central Organization for Virtual Education, reflecting the fact that tools and content at COVE are not limited to one period. In 2021, COVE will work with the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism to create sections of COVE for diverse field groups.

COVE has been awarded two grants to support the creation of The Pre-Raphaelites Online, one from Purdue, one from the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. Although the site will exist separately from COVE, PRO will share tools and data elements with COVE. The initiative brings together Pre-Raphaelite scholars (Jerome McGann, Timothy Barringer, Elizabeth Prettejohn) and the most important collections of Pre-Raphaelite art work (the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Watts Gallery, the Delaware Art Museum, and the Yale Center for British Art). Birmingham is PI on the project, with co-investigators from Birkbeck, U of Exeter and Purdue.
