Roe Head, Mirfield, was an all-girls school run by Margaret Wooler. Previously, Anne's sister Charlotte attended the school as a student from 1831 to 1832. In July 1835, Charlotte returned as a teacher and Emily began as a pupil. In October, Emily left Roe Head, and Anne took her place there as a student. In late 1837, Anne suffered a serious illness and left Roe Head as a result.
