The blight begins

The Blight is a plague that has devastated almost all the remaining food sources on Earth.

In this image is represented one scene of the film that shows corn around a house, one of the last surviving food sources.

By the time Interstellar occurs, the last crops of okra are dying off, leaving just corn as the only viable food source for humanity. This wiil be the main reason why humanity is forced to leave their own planet and the Endurance spaceship was created.

This image shows a scene of the film and it shows that the crop it usefull because of the blight, so it has been torched.
