East Indians' Petition 1830
The Eurasians were aware of their unequal status. They wanted respect, they asked for increased oppurtunties as civil servants in India. So in the year 1830, they decided to form a petiton in hopes to change things for the better, "In the petition, a majority of the educated Eurasians in Calcutta formally requested that they be granted full legal status as British subjects" (pg. 12). Unfortunatly this didn't help the Eurasians at all as the petition proved to be unsuccesful. However this did mark an era in which Eurasians fought for more oppurtuinites.
