George Austen's Death

After moving to Bath, Somerset, England, Geroge Austen died at seventy-five from an ilness. The Austen sisters and mothers then relied on their brothers to take care of them.

"Rev. Austen was buried in St. Swithin churchyard in Bath. The inscription on his grave reads:

'Under this stone rests the remains of

who departed this life
the 1st. of January 1805
