George Austen's Education
In 1746, George Austen, Jane's father, enters into St John's College in Oxford. His education would inspire his passion for education in his own family and his desire to see his children to gain an education. Historians speculate that during this time he met Jane's mother, Cassandra Leigh. This provides insight into the educational background of Jane's father and the way in which he met her mother.
