Il libro dell’arte translated
Mrs. Merrifield’s translation of Cennino Cennini’s fourteenth-century artist’s handbook, Il libro dell’arte (The Book of Art), was published in 1844. Referencing Chromatography, Merrifield suggests that George Field’s pigments are the closest in Victorian England to those of the Old Masters.
