London Missionary Society
The London Missionary Society begun roughly in 1795. This movement of missionaries was not central around one specific church. The start of their outreach was focused in China, however, this spread throughout the rest of Asia by the end of the 19th century. These missionaries established hosptials and began a medical scool in China. This event is significant to both London and Bleak House because it shows the importance and rise in missionary moments throughtout London, even predating the 19th century.
