Miller's respected position as a Baptist preacher helped pave the way for his radical thoughts to gain traction amoung the media. Miller specfically utilized newspapers, speeches, periodicals, pamphlets and any other ways he could think of to spread his thoughts to the people. 

Miller had created a large following that has been estimated to be 50,000-100,000 strong. Not all of these people beleived Miller's interpretations and predictions but their curiosity pulled them to listen to him anyway.
