On 16 November 1830, Wellington resigned as Prime Minister. Having angered many in his own party with his backing of the Catholic Emancipation and many in the public with his staunch opposition to parliamentary reform, Wellington is forced out of office by a vote of no confidence, an action that prepared the way for passage of the 1832 Reform Act.
