The influences of The Great War endorsed literary modernism, which acknowledged the challenges brought upon due to the war. It encouraged modern and progressive thought and influenced the desire for progressive change, individualism, women's rights, and more. Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen is an anti-war poem that reveals how gruesome and tragic the act of war is. Wilfred Owens's use of vivid imagery and emphasis on realism in Dulce Decorum est changed society's perspective by revealing the horrors of World War I.
