Description:
Sidney Sime’s How Nuth would have Practised his Art upon the Gnoles is an illustration from 1912 that first appeared in a section of Lord Dunsany's The Book of Wonder entitled “How Nuth would have Practised his Art upon the Gnoles”. The illustration depicts the characters in the story, those being Nuth and the Gnoles. Nuth is illustrated in a semi-visible light, whereas the Gnoles are depicted as shadowy figures. The Gnoles being shadowed is an implication of the mischievous nature of the creators that was mentioned in the story. This is in contrast to Nuth being in the light, indicating to the readers who the illustration is focusing on.
