Description:
This asylum which was open from the 18th century to the 20th century was more than likely like the penitentary christina voulnteered at.Known as Magdalene laundries was a place that women such as "fallen women"prostitues, young mothers who werent married, and stranded young women who were looked down upon worked to make a living which the society wasnt going to give them based on their backgrounds.Althought this did give fallen women a chance these laudnaries were seen as penetintary warehouse for women, which in a way was punishing them but being looked at as helping them since this was the only thing in society that was in a way good for them although it was bad they put up with it and this was still women being mistreated for the things they did as opposed to the men doing it and getting away with it in this specific era
