Historical Context- Recruitment posters were first introduced in the United Kindom during the first World War. These posters encourgned young men to join the troops and help fight in the war.

Influence on Literary Work- These recruitment posters made young men feel like they had a moral obligated to join their countries military and their fellow "brother" in the war. Owen describes the brotherhood he had with fellow soilders in his literary works of "Dule Et Decrum Est” and in "Anthem of the Doomed Youth".
