Equiano had settled in London after he had bought his freedom. This is where his major classical works were published and how he got recognized as an individual. He initially came from Africa where he was taken to Barbados, only to be sold into slavery in Virginia where he had worked on a field plantation. London is the place where he finally settled down and fought for the freedom of other African Americans.
Equiano was bought in Virginia and the workload consisted of working on Virginia plantations and doing housework. In 1754 he was purchased by Lieutenant Pascal who worked in the Royal Navy.
Barbados is the place where Equiano was held until they could transfer him to Virginia so that he could be sold into slavery.
This is a significant part of Equianos life because it is where Equiano had settled to live out the rest of his life. It is where he published his classical work. He fought for the rights of other African Americans and established himself there.
