Lewis Carroll as an entertainer

Description:
Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" is an entertaining children's book written in 1865, at a time when entertainment was far from the focus of children's literature. As other authors used their literature to drill morals and harsh realities into their small readers' heads, Carroll's approach was to poke fun at his counterparts. Partnered with John Tenniel's artful illustrations, Carroll's wacky writing and ideas were backed up by images of the same. As silly as "Alice In Wonderland" can get, Tenniel lends each situation an elegance found lacking without illustrations.
