Charles Dickens's novella, A Christmas Carol, was published by Chapman & Hall on December 19th, 1843, with accompanying illustrations by John Leech. The novella was an instant success, with the first edition selling out before Christmas Eve. It remains one of Dickens's best-known and most popular works.
