Tower of London (P)

The Tower of London is a famous piece of British architecture on the north bank of the River Thames. The White Tower is perhaps the most well-known aspect of it and is the namesake of the building itself. The Tower of London is home to the crown jewels of the British royal crown, a tradition that began during the rule of Henry III. The castle is often associated with torture and violence, accompanied by a piece of legend that Julius Caesar built it. It is also said that the ghost of Anne Boleyn haunts the tower after her execution on its ground in 1536. In modern days, the Tower of London is a popular tourist attraction, primarily due to its housing of the aforementioned crown jewels. Another popular attraction of the tower is the six raven inhabitants: it is said that if the ravens are ever to leave the residence, the empire of London will fall. A mention of the Tower of London can be found in Mary Prince's "The History of Mary Prince" when she discusses how "we landed at the Tower" upon her arrival to England.
