Liverpool
Liverpool is a city in northwestern England. It became a borough in 1207 and a city in 1880. It became a major center for the Atlantic slave trade, British immigration to North America, and the British cotton and coal industries in the nineteenth century. The development of the textile industry during the Industrial Revolution led to a rapid increase in population, attracting migrants from across Europe, and especially Ireland during the Great Famine in the 1840s.The city is also notable as the home of the White Star Line (per the RMS Titanic and RMS Lusitania). The English rock band, The Beatles formed in Liverpool, and the city is known for its two prominent Premier League football teams.
