The Maipu River (also Maipo River) begins in the Andes mountains and empties into the Pacific Ocean. It is located near present-day Santiago, Chile and is the region’s major source for irrigation and potable water. The local valley is Chile’s top wine-producing region.
From October 1831 to October 1836, Charles Darwin circumnavigated the world as ship’s naturalist on board the H.M.S.
