Walmer Castle was originally an artillery fort built under Henry VIII in Walmer, Kent, South East England, between 1539 and 1540. In the eighteenth century, it became the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and evolved into a private residence. Notably, the Duke of Wellington lived here from 1829 until his death in 1852. Walmer Castle is now a tourist attraction run by English Heritage.
