O'ahu

O’ahu is the third largest island of the US state of Hawai’i. Hawai’i’s state capital, Honolulu, is located on the island. Pearl Harbor, the site of an attack on the United States by the Japanese navy in 1941, is also located on O’ahu. Well-known attractions include Diamond Head and Waikīkī. In 1778, during Captain James Cook’s third Pacific voyage, O’ahu was the first Hawaiian island he sighted. Related BRANCH article: Stephen Hancock, "On the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy, 1893."
