Keble College is a college of Oxford University. The college was established in 1870 and is named after John Keble, a leader in the Oxford Movement, whose members had argued for the inclusion of older Christian traditions into Anglican theology. The original architect, William Butterfield, designed the college in the neo-gothic style with red brick buildings. This aesthetic marks a break from the traditional look of Oxford colleges and has resulted in accusations of ugliness and even a rivalry with nearby St John’s College, where members of a secret society gain admission by stealing bricks from Keble’s buildings.
