Founded in 1882, the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) is a non-profit British organization committed to understanding paranormal events. Its first meeting was held at the headquarters of the British National Association of Spiritualists, and Henry Sidgwick was its first president. Members study hypnotism, apparitions, mediumship, and dissociation.
