Montrose
Montrose is a town in Angus, Scotland, located 38 miles north of Dundee. It is a port town, located at the mouths of the North and South Esk rivers, and a commercial port for the oil and gas industry. It is known as the burial place of Bamse, the famous Norwegian Sea Dog, who became the mascot of the Free Norwegian Forces during World War II. Notable people born in Montrose include doctor and radical MP Joseph Hume (1777–1855) and the explorer Alexander Burnes, who was nicknamed “Bokhara Burnes” (1805–1841).
