Brixham
Brixham is located on the southern tip of the Tor Bay (or “Torbay”) directly across from the seaside resort town of Torquay in Devon, England. Known for its nearly impregnable harbor, Brixham has long relied on the sea for its economy, both in fishing and British naval defence. William, the Dutch Prince of Orange, landed here in 1688 to claim ascension to the English throne during the Glorious Revolution. After his capture by the British, Napoleon Bonaparte awaited his second and final exile to St. Helena aboard the HMS Bellerophon in Brixham’s harbor.
