Castruccio's lust for the destruction of the Guelphs and war with Florence is rekindled by Galeazzo, who tasks him with taking the town of Ferrara. (Page 195). Castruccio is able to work with some sympathetic parties within the city to sneak troops in and conquer the city. Crucially, this is also where he also becomes connected to Beatrice through the bishop. Historically, like many of these other towns, Ferrara was known a site of conflict between the two ruling families.
