8th public exhibition of the Greek Slave: 23 November 1848 through March 1849

          James Robb exhibited the original statue in New Orleans between November 1848 and March 1849Wunder notes that Robb had "contacted a committee in New Orleans charged with raising money to found an asylum for destitute widows and offered to exhibit his statue for their benefit. Robb's intention, however, was less an act of benevolence than to damage Powers in the event that Kellogg planned to exhibit the other Greek Slave statue in New Orleans" (231). Admission was 50 cents, with children at half price, and Powers was denied proceeds from this exhibition.
