Aberdeen

Aberdeen is a city in northeastern Scotland. It is home to the University of Aberdeen, founded in 1495. It is known as the Granite City for its use of local granite in architecture from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Famous people from Aberdeen include Lord Byron (lived here from ages 2–10), James Clerk Maxwell, and Scotland’s first eminent portrait-painter, George Jamesone.
