Athenic Institute at Birmingham
The Birmingham Athenic Institute was established in 1841 at Suffolk Street, Birmingham, England. It was a society with the goal of providing physical and intellectual improvement, as well as amusement, for its members. The patron of the society in 1846 was Lord John Manners, 7th Duke of Rutland, a leader in the Young England movement and M.P.
