Austin is the capital of the US state of Texas. It is the fourth most populous city in Texas and is the southernmost state capital in the US. Austin is known for its vibrant music scene, having been dubbed the "Live Music Capital of the World." It was originally inhabited by the Tonkawa tribe before European colonists arrived. It was named for Stephen F. Austin, commonly referred to as the "Father of Texas."
