Barrett Reef is located in Wellington Harbor in New Zealand, named for Richard Barrett, a European trader. Its Māori name was Tangihanga-a-Kupe. At high tide, much of the reef is exposed, and it can be quite dangerous for ships, having caused at least twenty shipwrecks.
