Bermuda

Bermuda is an archipelago designated as a British Overseas Territory in the Atlantic Ocean. It is the location that Peter Finch compares the weather of the Western Peninsula of Britain to when describing Wales.

Bermuda was named after and discovered by Spanish explorer Juan de Bermúdez in 1505, and it became permanently inhabited by British colonies in 1684. African slaves were brought to this island from 1616 to the end of the 17th century. Before modern times, Bermuda served as a center for merchants and the Royal Navy. More recently Bermuda became a popular tourism location. In 2018, Bermuda had a population around 70,000, the highest population of all British Territories.
