Sharing its name with a Latin American ballroom dance move where it originated, Botafogo is located in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It was named for João Periera de Sousa Botafogo, and the word means “set it in on fire,” as there was once an artillery here. It is located along Guanabara Bay and in view of Sugarloaf Mountain.
