Castello Di Nozzano
"A fortnight passed thus; when the Albinois brought a message from Mandragola, bidding Beatrice repair that same night at twelve, to a wood about four miles from Lucca. At this time Castruccio was employed in building the tower of Nozzano, on a small hill which was surrounded by the wood chosen by the witch" (386). Beatrice is lured into the forest by the witch (Fior di Mandragola) to test her power over Castruccio. Mandragola contrived this setting, because she knew Castruccio would pass by on the way to Nozzano at a certain time in the night, which would make Beatrice believe she had conjured him. Compelled by the intoxicating drink given to her by the witch, Beatrice flings herself into the road in front of Castruccio and convulses (389). She is taken to Euthanasia's palace, where she dies days later (393).
