Chelsea Embankment

The Chelsea embankment is part of the Thames Embankment along the north bank of the river Thames in central London, England. It runs from the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the west to the Borough of Westminster in the east. It was designed by Joseph Bazalgette as a project of the Metropolitan Board of Works, which intended to provide London with a modern sewer system. The embankment was opened on 9 May 1874 by Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh.
