Cordoba, also known as Cordova, is located in Andalusia. Originally a Roman settlement, then colonised by Muslim armies in the eighth century, the city became a center of culture and learning in the Muslim golden age. It was recaptured by Christian forces in 1236 and today is a World Heritage Site.
On 24 August 1821, the Treaty of Córdoba was signed between Mexico and Spain, leading to Mexican independence. Image: The Treaty of Córdoba. This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported, 2.5 Generic, 2.0 Generic and 1.0 Generic license.
